On 2005 took place the 10th edition of the "Road Artists Party" in Ragusa Ibla. So, we left from Piazza Armerina to Ragusa. Once arrived there, we parked the car and took the free shuttle bus to Ibla. No jams and easy car parking. In front of Ibla entrance, we were fascinated by its wonderful night view. Ibla, placed on a mountain, is full of alleys, arcs, finely decorated balconies, restored and no ancient buildings. We walked in the historical center, really enchanting, without cars and smog, a real pedestrian area. Curious families, vivacious children, couples which had a kiss in some romantic place. Through Giusti street, after few meters, we arrived in Repubblica square where we've found many people: the first show was coming! Some boys jumped and danced, some somersault, it was a great enjoyment. All around: elegant buildings, churches (strictly opened), fountains engraved in the stone, wonderful! We continued our walk through Cap. Bocchieri street to the Duomo square. Here, particular balconies captured our attention: allegoric figures and monsters were represented. We took some photo of them and went on. Duomo square was in ferment: a nice juggler attracted the astonished people and many children enjoyed themselves very much. Duomo square is really striking, even if the dome front was undergoing renovations.
We left the Dome to Pola square where we had a snack with some cheap homemade focaccias (prepared by the organizers of the Ibla Buskers) and a good wine glass. We enjoyed another show which had a fantastic baroque church and some ancient palaces as background; we bought the party playbills of the past editions and the informative material, and we signed a petition to guarantee the next events. The members of the cultural Edrisi association (Ibla Buskers organizers) let us known that could be the latest edition of the event, because of the insufficient funds by the council, the district and the merchants too, that economically benefit of the event. We have wondered "why?" This feast, in fact, attracts a lot of people all over the area, visitors which, as who writes, can only be charmed by the beauty of this hstorical center; visitors which eat, drink and spend the night in Ibla, so giving an economic advantage to all the activities; visitors which will speak about this experience to their friends and relatives, further promoting the event and the city.
We have just find many B&B, inns, restaurants and pizzerie; and others are being born.
How much have they worked along these days of holidays? We think they have worked a lot. Then, why we don't support these initiatives, instead of oppose the young boys which are making right, with their enthusiasm, to our historical center?
Close this parenthesis, renewing that http://www.cittadeimosaici.it/ will ever completely support Edrisi association promoting their initiatives.
We came on Corso 25 Aprile to G.B.Odierna square, where is the entry of Giardini Iblei.
Inside the gardens we found a lot of stands of which owners offered many kinds of goods, or they were there for only challenge a message. So we met a nice and bright old man, Mr Bartolomeo di Scicli, a scultor, who talk you about he gives a soul to his stones; or Marco, a guest of R.T.M. (Modica local radio), who is author of a indipendent radio show, called "Ora d'aria"; or a drawer, Daniele Liali, who gets his ispiration by Picasso and creates some works we like very section of http://www.piazzaarmerina.org/.
At the end of the evening, our company was really satisfied, to have spent a different and funny day, to have visited a wonderful historic background, to have known a lot of good people and to have got many ideas to make better our settlement Piazza Armerina.
I want to underline another thing: i saw many child, all of them was enchanted and amused by many artists, acrobats, clowns and fire-eaters. I can easy tell this feast is custom-made for them. I wish there was a lot of events like this!
And that's all, by the envoy of http://www.cittadeimosaici.it/.
A good greeting by Ragusa Ibla.
