| The Conradin’s Castle of Centuripe |
|
The Conradin’s Castle is in the old town center of Centuripe, edified on the rocks, in a panoramic position. It’s a medieval fortress with a square floor plan, built up on a previous Roman structure of the II century B.C, probably an Imperial Age mausoleum.
The term “Castle” is incorrect. The little building rather looks like a tower which in the past, by Corrado Capece’s order, had the function of lookout to defend Sicilian Svevi. Today is possible to visit the municipality property ruins, getting Centuripe by highway Palermo-Catania. |
